MILLENNIUM SERIES LONDON
The name of the game is break out of the groups - win at least 2 out of 3 matches.
After that the Championship is only 3 matches away on Sunday.

There are 16 teams in the CPL Division.
Teams are drawn into 4 groups of 4 teams.
Each team plays 3 preliminary matches on Saturday. Only the top 2 in each group go through to Sunday. 8 teams in total qualify for the Quarterfinals on Sunday.

EXCLUSIVE: PAUL LAM's MEETING WITH TUN DR MAHATIR

Last week the paintball fraternity in Asia saw pictures of Paul Lam who is the head of the MPOC and PALS in a meeting with Tun Dr Mahathir former Prime Minister of Malaysia. It was indeed a historic meeting between an icon of Malaysian Paintball with an icon of Malaysia in Tun Dr Mahathir.

I am sure many of you would be curious to as what transpired in the meeting so I asked Paul Lam what they talked about. So here is an exclusive interview to what transpired at that meeting.

Hi Paul, it was great to see pictures of your meeting with Tun Dr Mahathir. Every paintballer in Malaysia and the region is excited about the news of this historic meeting. We all want to know what the meeting was about and what transpired?

PAUL: The meeting held mainly because the [World Cup Asia and Command & Conquer] events are held on Langkawi Island which has been his pet project* since day 1.

It was also to get the acknowledgement from arguably one of the most intelligent and influential statesman from Malaysia for our sport of paintball. If Tun Di Mahathir can see the positive elements of our sport, I am hopeful that all others would too. Imagine Lee Kuan Yew** as the patron of the Singapore Paintball Series - that would help the sport in Singapore right?

It also came to my attention recently that Tun Dr Mahathir actually mentioned paintball as a training tool for military training way before the first paintball center in the country was set up. This idea was called off after a feasibility study and largely forgotten. I thought what better opportunity than now to help make his vision come through than this November - hence the Command & Conquer event in conjunction with the World Cup Asia 2011 in Langkawi.

What did paintball gained from this meeting with Tun Dr Mahathir?

PAUL: When I looked him in the eye at the end of the chat to reconfirm his agreement to be the Patron of the Command & Conquer event...he said "yes" with a twinkle in his eye. We shook hands for the second time and this is another mission I must and would love to deliver well. It is a great honour for our sport!

Thank you Paul and we all hope that World Cup Asia will live up to every one's expectations.

*The development of Langkawi Island is Tun Dr Mahatir's pet project. It was his vision to create a world class bicycle race that is the Tour de Langkawi and the LIMA Langkawi International Martitime and Air show.

PSP CHICAGO FINAL Dynasty's Coach vs Russians' Coach

By Overtime, I guess Dynasty's coach Mike Hindman was out of voice and somebody else was coacing Mouse in the snake. You can hear his coaching clearly and as well as the Russian coach on the other side of the stands. The Russians have 4 or more coaches so if any one of them lose their voice- another can step in.

Its down to 3 Russians vs 2 Dynasty. JRabb in Snake, Matt Blonski in God and Aleksandr Berdnikov in Center back and Dynasty had Mouse in the snake and Steve Pitts in the Doritos.

After Mouse and JRabb traded, Matt Blonski should have done a better job on Steve Pitts but he gets shot running up the snake. It went to one on one and the advantage was clearly with Russians who had a coach closer to Aleksandr Berdnikov while Steve Pitts was stranded out on the far side.

JRABB's INCREDIBLE MOVE

This was Justin Rabackoff's legendary move on Sunday in the PSP finals against Dynasty. Its Boston Red Legion 4 Dynasty 5 and its 1.22 left on the clock. The Russians need to score a quick point or its all over. Dynasty is going to sit and hold out for the Championship.

JRabb makes it into the snake alive. He goes all the way to the 50 snake. Dynasty has 4 guys across the back 4 bunkers including Alex Fraige in snake back. Ollie Lang is at God shooting at JRabb in snake 2 at the 50. Fraige bumps into snake 1 to counter JRabb but is shot going in.

A momentary lack of attention by Ollie lets JRabb sneak cross field into the center A. He is in the A for a long time and Dynasty try to dig him out. Ollie goes into the snake to get at the A and just that moment JRabb runs though the middle of the field shooting Glenn Takemoto at the back dorito and apparently he gets Ollie as well on the way to hanging the flag.

JRabb dives and hangs the flag with 2 seconds to go injuring himself in the process.

Ties the match at 5-5 and forces sudden death Over Time.

RUSSIANS WIN PSP CHICAGO

Boston Red Legion has finally stopped Dynasty run of championships. They came back from 2-5 -s cored 3 quick points to tie it up at 5-5 to take it to sudden death over time.

Dynasty dominated the first half of the match forcing the Russians to concede 3 points in a row before getting a major penalty and that gave the Russians a chance to score 3 points to tie it up. Dynasty tried going up the middle with Oliver but he get shot in the face and the Russians make quick work and grab 2 quick points.

At 4-5 with nothing left on the clock Justin Rabackoff somehow manages to get the flag from the snake and bumps infield into the center A without getting shot- runs down the field through the center shooting out Ollie Lang at god and Glenn Takemoto and dives the flag in with 2 seconds left in the match.

JRabb in the snake of the left and Alex Goldman on the right is stuck there because Matt Blonski is watching him from God. Across the field is Steve Pitts in Dorito 1

We go to sudden death over time. Its a tight game that stuck at 3 v 2. JRabb in the snake vs Alex Goldman and Steve Pitts in the Doritos. Russians have Matt Blonski in god backing up JRabb and Alex Berdnikov in the back center.

Alex Goldman bunkers JRabb and they trade out.

It stalemates for a long time until Alex Goldman goes to bunker JRabb and they trade out. Matt Blonski starts to push up to shoot Steve Pitts in the Doritos but somehow Steve Pitts pulls a shot on him.

And it went down to 1 v 1 Alex Berdnikov at center back vs Steve Pitts in Dorito 3. Berdnikov is well out of paint by now and was picking paint off the ground. He realises that Steve Pitts is stuck out there with out any coach on the doritos side and goes and bunkers him for the Championship.

The Final had everything - it went one way and just when it seemed that Dynasty was going to sit on their 3 point lead and run the clock down - the Russians came back to tie it and still it stale mated down to 1 v 1 in over time.

Russians win it in sudden death overtime. Russians stop Dynasty's run of Championships. Russians came back from 2-5. Justin Rabackoff is definitely the MVP for running the flag in though a live Dynasty field to force Over Time.

DYNASTY v LA IRONMEN

Blue vs red- Ollie Lang vs Ironmen. Dynasty and Ironmen are two old names in propaintball however one is at the top of the game with 4 wins in a row and the other is a team rebuilding itself. Dynasty's line up is too good for them to lose against a younger greener Ironmen. Ironmen need to stop Mouse and Dalton from running up the sides.

And they also have to deal with guys like Ollie, Yosh, Ryan and Alex filling after they shoot Dynasty's forwards out. On top of that Dynasty have a great coach in Mike Hinman who can read the game and adjust the plays to beat you.

The only way to beat Dynasty as we saw in their match against Tampa Bay - is for the Ironmen to somehow take it to them and roll on the momentum. They key to holding Dynasty up is to get out and cut Mouse off from the snake and cut Dalton from the Doritos. It'll be a good match up Mouse vs Mike Spika in the snake and Brandon Short vs Dalton in the Doritos.

BOSTON RED LEGION v EDMONTON IMPACT

The Russians have everything going for them. They have good laners and get Gs on the break- they have JRabb that usually owns the snake. They have 4 coaches to control the game. They train and specialise in the PSP format. They go stung by Dynasty in Texas and they want to get another shot at them.

Edmonton Impact have the talent and the experience to take points from the Russians. They have experienced guys like Josh Davey and the All Americans they picked up Tim Montressor, Chad George and Ryan Moorehead who know how to play the Russians. It definitely wont be a walk over when these guys bring their game. They just need to not panic and take it point by point and not let them get away. Russians always play two stacked at home on the break to lane - Impact needs to get outside alive and pinch them before the Russians break out from home.
Hopefully it'll be a close match and they trade points.

I'll Jinx Dynasty and Boston and pick them to prevail and meet in the finals. That is what I think every want wants to watch tonight.

Boston Red Legion justified their no1 seed and romped through Chattanooga and Infamous and finished top 4-0. In the big match up against Infamous they dropped 2 quick points initially before regrouping and running 7 straight points past Infamous to secure Sunday.

Dynasty totally dominated a helpless Aftershock 7-1 and surprisingly blew a big 3-0 lead with Tampa Bay and let them score 6 unanswered points. Momentum is the chink in their armor that the others will have to exploit to beat them. Matty Marshall said that losing to Tampa bay was a good thing for them because it mean they avoid Boston in the semifinals but also the loss should wake them up in time for the finals.

Impact lost only 1 match and that was to Dynasty. They won both Saturday matches and qualified 3rd spot. They have been the better team in terms of controlling the matches and holding out against Aftershock 5-4 and dominating x-Factor in their last match. They play Boston Red Legion on Sunday in the semifinals, if they can remain calm and not let the Russins get a momentum going they can beat them.

Ironmen turned out to be the dark house of the weekend. They quietly took wins from favourites Infamous and that along with their 7-0 win from Chattanooga was enough to squeeze past Infamous, Tampa Bay, and XFactor (who were all 2-2) to make it to the Final four. Consistency is still not there yet because they lost to Vicious 6-4. But they did just enough to make it to Sunday. they some something really special to bead tournament favourites Dynasty to make it to the final.

X-Factor played really well this tournament. There were 4 teams that finished 2-2 record and X-Factor just missed out on Sunday finishing 5th. Not enough to make it to Sunday but will have good things to bring to the next tournament. They did trash Tampa 7-1 to prove that the full team back together is something to contend with.

Infamous surprisingly lost to the Ironmen which meant they had to come out and beat Boston which they didnt. Infamous ended losing both their games on Sat with a 2-2 record which was the same as the Ironmen but the Ironmen go through from a better point margin

Tampa Day was also disappointing they dropped points when they shouldnt and couldn't get back up. They were already out by the time they played Dynasty in the last match but it was the match of the day by the great come back from 0-3 to make it 6-3. Proves that they have what it takes but today it wasn't there.

Chattanooga finally got their first win of the year beating Vicious. A big upset in more ways as it killed any chance Vicious had to progesss to Sunday. They avoid being last place overall with the single win.

Aftershock took it to Impact - traded points all the way to the line. Good Close game Impact just held them just off long enough to beat then 5-4 a one point game. This took too much out of Chicago for their last game against Dynasty. They came out strong in the first point against Dynasty winning is less than a min. I thought it was going to be a close game but it was all downhill from there. some of the point weere chaotic blood baths but with Dynasty alwasy coming out winners. Pressure got to Aftershock and theyself destructed with penalties at the end going down 7-1.

The match of the day was Tampa Bay's come back from 0-3 to beat Dynasty 6-3

PSP CHICAGO FRIDAY PRO RESULTS

There were a few close games on the first day of PSP Chicago -
Infamous were taken down to the wire edging out VICIOUS with 51 secs left on the clock.
X-Factor and Aftershock went to Overtime and got the win.
Impact pulled the surprise win over favorites Tampa Bay Damage and is the only pick I got wrong out of 10 matches.

I find predicting the scores on Pick'em rather hard but I submitted my scores and here are my* Final Four teams. Tampa Bay Damage vs Boston Red Legion and La Infamous vs Dynasty. Boy if that came true it'll be one heck of a Semi final / Final Four series.
BTW I picked Infamous over Boston Red Legion in the final.

Ollie Lang vs Frank Cornell at NPPL Chicago

The "controversy" on the net right now is the Ollie Lang vs Frank Cornell 'incident' at NPPL Chicago. This amateur video came up this morning on the net and ProPaintball. Can't really see much except for the trade off that happened and Frank was called 'out' and Ollie called 'safe'. Ollie played on and wrapped up the game for Dynasty.

The ref just has to get in the way of what would have been a front cover photo of the 'headbutt'.

What happened afterwards was the 'head butt' of goggles at the Avalanche flag station when Ollie went to grab the flag. And thus everyone has their opinion on it.

Trust the guys at PBFashion to come up with a real good close up of the whole bunkering move in this video.

They slowed down Frank's run down on Ollie and at .37 you can see that it is very close but Frank does get a hit on Ollie's leg or pack first- there is a yellow splash just before Ollie puts a couple on Frank's belly.

Frank Starts his run - there is a definite hit on Ollie's pack or back - there is splash of paint at the bottom of the picture. At the top of the picture in the red circle Frank is still clean.
FACT Frank got Ollie first.

MY VERDICT
It should have been a trade off. The refs got it wrong this time and I cant really blame them because it was so close. That's why I guess they rather pull both - just to be sure.

MPOC LEAGUE PATCHES

Most football fans would instantly recognise this which is the UEFA Champions League Patch. This patch will be on the sleeve of every team European club that qualifies for the most prestigious club competition in the world. Every player and fan would be proud to have this on the sleeve of their team jersey.

The Millennium Series format follows the Champions League a bit where they have CPL and SPL divisions and also every CPL and SPL teams are required to have the Millennium Series emblem on their sleeves as like in the UEFA Champions League. The artwork for the Millenium Series logo is readily available and made easy for teams to add to the design of their jerseys and dye sublimated on.

What the MPOC should do is to design and make a patch for the 5/6 Division 1 teams in the league. I feel that its is something special for a team to make it and play in Division as we all know that not many teams can reach the heights of Division 1. Therefore there should be something special that the MPOC can do to make each of these team feel that they have accomplished something and to be proud to be in Division 1 in the MPOC.

I think every Div 1 player would be very proud to be able to wear a MPOC Div1 "League of Champions" patch on his sleeve.

A collection of sleeve patches from the major football leagues and competitions.

This patch would also give the league a more professional image. With the amount of commitment, sponsor money invested in these precious few high profile Division 1 teams - they should be celebrated and presented to the public in an image as the best and most professional manner as possible.

Most of the photos of paintball that appear in the main steam media would be of the Division 1 teams and it would give the MPOC a higher profile to have a patch on their sleeve.

Champion's Patch
The Champions of most football leagues in Europe get to sew on an additional or special patch for the next season to commemorate their championship. The English Premier League issues a Gold Patch, UEFA has a European Champions Cup patch with the number of wins, The Bundersliga also has a special patch. The Italian teams are given a star for every 10 championship and here we can see that Juventus with their 2 stars to commemorate their 27 Italian Championships - 3 more wins and they can put another star on their jerseys.

The MPOC and PALS should design a patch/logo which a season Overall winner can sew or put in the design of their jerseys. X-Fox have a small logo with 3 crowns to commemorate their 3 overall championships.

While I applaud the idea to make a Champions Jersey for the winners of last years World Cup Asia- it may be impractical for some teams to wear them all the time because of sponsors etc. However with a "Champions" patch/logo they can just easily sew the patch on or dye sub the logo on their jerseys.

INFAMOUS

Some interesting shots of Infamous- they are supposed to be shooting Sly Barrels but most of them used the stock Axe barrel. Marchello Margott in front is using a Dye Boomstick- probably from his old days at Ironmen And the blue coloured barrel at the back looks like a CP.

Nicky Cuba is also still attached to his Boomstick from his days on Ironmen. Nicky and Marcello prefer to use the smallest nose on their Prophecy Loaders. Im trying to figure out what the letters written on his hands are for. Here is "KW" on his right hand.

And Nicky is wearing no9 instead of his regular no23 when with the Ironmen.

Frankfurt Syndicate's 2011 jersey is designed by MAXSIMUM customs as it is related their big time sponsor MAXS. They have also picked up SLY as a sponsor. They have also switched from JT Proflexes to V force masks. Syndicate used to be Tadao team too but have switched to Virtue. Also noted from practice pictures that they have switched from Velocities to red Dye Rotors but still shooting MacDev Cyborgs. And the team will be wearing Sly's S11 pants with NXe packs.

2011 DYNASTY EURO JERSEY by MAXSIMUM CUSTOMS

MAXSIMUM Customs scored a big team in signing up Dynasty without a doubt the biggest brand in paintball today. Dynasty just came off from a win at PSP Galveston and are due to arrive in Europe this weekend to pick up their new 2011 Euro Dynasty jerseys to be worn when playing in the CPL in the Millennium Series.

MAXSIMUM Customs jerseys are designed by Mario Kulic who was creative mastermind behind S2 but now works German super paintball store MAXS Sport on MAXSIMUM customs.

Frankfurt Syndicate's 2011 jersey has almost the same accent from last years jersey by S2. But minus the JT brand which has so long been associated with the team.

Art Chaos is a CPL Russian 'all star' that will field a bunch of guys from the Russian Legion - Kostja Fedorov, Kirill Prhidini, Vasja Pantelev and Mishka Kniazev.

OLLIE LANG ON HIS MOVE TO DYNASTY

This would most probably be the first interview Ollie Lang did after the big announcement last Sat (Singapore morning) that he is going back to his old team Dynasty. Within minutes after Ryan Greenspan tweeted "Welcome Back Mr Ollie Lang" I knew that the move was on and tweeted it and I sent Ollie a few questions about it. Ollie has graciously replied my email with answers and here we have a World Exclusive: Ollie Lang talking about this move back to Dynasty.

Hi Ollie thank you for doing this short but very important interview.
Can I ask a few questions that your fans would be dying to know

1. What-when-how was the decision made - who did you speak to in Dynasty?
I have been speaking to Alex (Fraige) about it for years, partially joking but in the back of my mind- seriously.

2. What are your thoughts going back to the team that started it all for you?
Its just nice to be back with my friends that I started with.

3. This move is obviously not about money, what is it about? Going into a title contending team?
Its about a fresh start and a new goal, its time to revive the sport. I want to triple stamp the double stamp that we were and are the best ever to play the game.

4. Do you have any message to Ironmen and Dynasty fans out there ?
Both teams are great teams and it is amazing that there is a sportsman that has two teams. I really have two teams and two great teams at that. Whether you are an Ironmen fan or a Dynasty fan, I hope that you are an Ollie Lang fan and I will continue to do my best as an athlete to represent the sport and grow it as much as possible. Look out for the best to come.

Every year I wait to see what jersey and marker Marseille Icon from France comes out with. And this is the 2011 Icon edition Ego11 and Geo 2 with their legendary green and Wolverine logo.

187 CREW from Massachusetts with their Ego11 and Ego2 in Green/White. After winning Div2 at the World Cup last year - they will be playing Div1 in PSP/NPPL in 2011

PRO DIV MARKER SPONSORSHIP PIE IN THE NPPL

Lets have a quick look at the Marker sponsorship situation in the all important Pro division going into the opening NPPL Event in April. For 2011 the NPPL will cap Professional Division at 16 teams. So far to date there are 15 teams confirmed with 1 spot left.

Planet Eclipse 36% had the biggest slice of the pie with 7 teams last year in Pro but have lost 2 teams to Empire. They still managed to hold on to the biggest slice of the pie at 36% with 5 teams. Planet Eclipse managed to hang on to big names in Dynasty and Impact. San Francisco Explicit, St Loius Avalance and Chicago Aftershock stayed with Egos and Geos. They were the biggest losers in terms of pro teams- they have been losing teams since 2009 when long time Eclipse shooters XSV and Infamous left.

Empire 29% has come and taken a big bite from Planet Eclipse in the Marker Sponsorship Pie. New comer Empire grabbed 4 teams with their new Axe XSV (from Alien) Infamous (from Bob Long) and signed up 2 new teams Chicago Legend and Vancouver Vendetta. They immediately have almost 30% of teams share in Pro division showcasing their new Axe.

Dye 14% has the smallest pie of the big 3 manufacturers with only 2 teams at 14%. However they still have overall the 2010 Champions Tampa Bay Damage and DC Arsenal shooting Dye NTs. Dye has been more supportive of teams playing in the PSP with its Ironmen not playing in the NPPL.

Bob Long 7% lost Infamous to the Axe but he still has house team Oakland Blast to concentrate on.

Alien 7% had XSV last year and managed to stay in Pro Division with new team Seattle Thunder.

Luxe 7% are making a slow comeback- they are represented but new team Indianapolis Mutiny

Portland Uprising remains the only team left unsigned to any marker manufacturer.

NEW NPPL PRO TEAM - PORTLAND UPRISING

Portland Uprising announced yesterday on the 21st Feb that they have officially acquired an NPPL Professional spot for the 2011 season. Formed in 2004, the team competed in the NPPL Semi Pro bracket in 2007 under the name WA Uprising by PBRack.com.

Uprising will be made up from players from the PBRack staff and teams. Some of the guys came out to play and won PALS Philippines last year. Uprising will be wearing head to toe PBRack on and off the field this season.

Ollie wasn't in a Dynasty jersey for real but in a black t shirt. He was however, wearing an Empire mask and still wore his Dye pants and Dye Elbow Pads. And shooting a Blue GEO with a Dye Rotor and not a Empire Prophecy. In fact the WHOLE TEAM are all using ROTORs.

OLIVER LANG BACK TO DYNASTY

OLIVER LANG IS MOVING BACK TO DYNASTY.

Its Sat 19th 1230pm Singapore time and Fri 830pm LA time.

So far nothing on PBnation, Propaintball and Facefull Im the only one with this.

Let see if the others catch up and confirm or I jumped the gun.

Oliver Lang has been out of contract with Dye since the end of last year when his $100,000-a-year contract ran out. It has been 5 years since his legendary move from Dynasty to Dye/Ironmen. During the World Cup Asia last Nov Ollie got to hangout with his old buddy Ryan Greenspan and I'll bet $100,000 that he and Ryan talked about it. And ironically it was Ryan Greenspan that tweeted the announcement first before Ollie. During World Cup Aisa when Ollie was asked if he was going back to Dynasty he didn't deny the rumours- his answer was a definite "maybe"

Rumours have been floating around since late August last year that that he was not been offered a new contract with Dye nor has he signed a new one. Thus it was logical that rumours of a move out of the Ironmen was imminent. Only last week it was reported that he was seen practicing with the Ironmen thus squashing rumours of him moving out. It seems that the decision to make the move was made only in the past few days.

Looking at the choice of title contending teams that he can move to or willing to take him in...There isn't much around. He wont suit the Russians, not sure about Oakland Blast, Infamous are taking a big risk with the Axe.

If Ollie was going to move - it would not be for money because I doubt any other team or sponsor can top what Dye paid him. The move was definitely going to be to a team that can win.

It won't be a move to another Dye team like Tampa Bay because if he was going to be a Dye player - Dye would want him to be in the Ironmen. Dynasty would be the most logical choice since he grew up with the team and it was with Dynasty that they wont all those Championships. Dynasty has not been as strong since their rebuilding process with the inclusion of the younger players and with Ollie things could change for the better.

Team X FOX is one of the oldest team around in Malaysia. They have been a Dye/Proto team from the very beginning. So its no surprise that they have been selected by Dye to have their own custom C11 jerseys. The jerseys have been designed by PBH Paintball Heaven.

They have yet to post the third design but between the 2 above my vote is for the black one on the right.

I cant wait to get mine!

ROCKSTAR FACTORY TEAM has a Canadian team that plays in Div3 in Canada and USA. Their jerseys are slightly different from their USA counterparts (who used to play in Semi Pro).

The Canadian rockstar Factory team jersey have red trimmings on the sleeves and a Canadian Flags on the shoulders and back.

The jersey is made by Khrome. Blanks (no sponsors logos no name no numbers, no flags) are/were available from Khromepaintball.com

Hostile Creations - Rogue Marker

I was intrigued by this new "independent" marker dubbed the ROGUE made by Californian based company Hostile Creations.

At first look it is a simple literally 'straight' forward marker. Design wise you can pick out similarities in the body styling that gives and overall look of a clone. The stock barrel looks like a Furious barrel, the trigger looks like an Ego's, the stiff looking bottom frame looks like something form Spyder. Look on the bright side there is a feed neck with quick release and there is an On/off ASA at the bottom. The most unique feature is the short fore grip integrated with a straight trigger guard. The fore grip also does not have an external hose attached to it

Looking at the specs wise - the (less than 2 pounds) marker is milled from a block of aircraft grade aluminum. Tool-less management - the bolt and regulator can be removed without the need of tools. The board is a fully programmable OLED board. Trigger has a 3 point adjustability and you have the option of using spring action return or magnets. In the box it comes with 2 barrel packs - (.693, .689)

DYE TEAM SERIES 2 - Team Evolution

Another big Dye team from Equador is Evolution which I featured their custom C10 jerseys in my blog last year. For 2011 they have put up 2 designs for their fans to vote on Facebook. I vote the first one above over the gold trim one below.

The Team Evolution Dye Team Series NT11 is really nice with their signature blue/gold trim.
If the final jersey is the one on top then the trims on the NT11 should be in while or silver.
But judging from the looks of this picture - I think the C11 will be the one with gold trims.

The original design is quite faithfully replicated on the actual NT11 marker with its PGA technology.

DYE TEAM SERIES

In the light of custom jersey makers offering good quality work from the likes of TANKED, S2, RAZA etc. The current fashion is all about custom jerseys and stock jerseys are not good enough. As a result of this companies like DYE who usually dont make a custom jersey unless you are a pro team, have changed their policy and are offering selected DYE teams the chance to customised their own jerseys and Markers.

Here is a draft version of the first non-professional team Dye C11 custom jersey for Team Gorilaz which is a team from Venezuela to appear on the net.

Team Gorilaz are also getting customised NT11s

Cult team L.I.F.T.from Long Island New York signed with Dye recently and this is their customised NT11 which is really sweet. I'm sure we'll see one from the New Jersey Jesters too.

Paintball for the X Games?

Propaintball reported that the NPPL is currently in talks with ESPN to get Professional Paintball back on mainstream TV again. Paintball was last seen on TV on "Beyond The Paint" which was co produced by ESPN and the 'old' NPPL which was previously owned by defunct Pacific Paintball and when Pacific dent bust so did NPPL and thus the TV show also disappeared.

Its no big surprise that the NPPL is talking to ESPN again and this time I am hoping that the results would be more than just a lifestyle program which was what "Beyond The Paint" was. I am hoping that it'll lead to paintball being incorporated into the highly popular X Games. Up till now all x Games sport have been individual sports and paintball would be one of the first sport that has a team element to the X Games.

I have always believed that Paintball has a better chance of getting into the X Games than getting into the Olympics. Furthermore Paintball will grow better and faster and in the right target market in the X Games compared to the more rigid and mainstream Olympics.

So yes I am definitely keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that the meetings with ESPN will somehow lead to Paintball being included in the X Games. My only concern with the NPPL being the one talking to ESPN is that I think the PSP format would be more TV friendly compared to NPPL's & man. But I'll take any format on TV as long as we get to watch Professional Paintball on TV.

PALS CHINA POSTPONED

PALS CHINA has been postponed to a tentative date April 29- May1 because the original date runs the same time as the Boao Forum.

WTF is a the "Boao Forum"? well it is a "a non-government, non-profit international organization, Boao Forum For Asia (BFA) is the most prestigious and premier forum for leaders in government, business and academia in Asia and other continents to share visions on the most pressing issues in this dynamic region and the world at large. "

So with former head of countries (Goh Chok Tong and Ahmadf Badawi) and various VIPs coming to Hainan for the Boao Forum; the Hainan Government has decreed that they will not have anyone running around with a 'firearms' during the week of the forum.

This throws a spanner in the works for those people who have book plane tickets and hotels. The organisers have asked everyone to wait for the new date to be confirmed before rebooking flights and hotels.

ARCHERY SINGAPORE

I always find it ironic that you can carry these things around Singapore and keep it at home, but you cannot do the same with a paintball marker.

This is a cantilever bow which people use to hunt large game and it can kill a person. Where as paintball markers cannot kill anyone. But one is considered a 'firearm' and the other is not. Where as both do not have any gunpowder or any explosive propellant of any kind.

I am biased when I say that this cantilever bow with a pointy arrow looks a lot more menacing than a paintball marker. We see guns on the TV all the time and kids with toy guns that to us it would be less menacing that one of this cantilever bow.

I guess its because all paintball markers "look" like guns and one cannot tell what is a speedball marker and those scenario markers and what is a real gun/rifle.

I was looking at some tools to add to my kit. These guys from Switzerland make awesome looking hex tools BUT unfortunately all the good looking ones are in metric and Dye uses inch :(

Those who shoot Egos guys could use these though.

They have a series in Rainbow and they can do kits in "Personal Colour" Green, Blue, Red, Yellow etc- so you know which ones are yours. There is 24k gold kit and a set in super lightweight Titanium.

I use this 3/32 Screw Driver from Bondhus to access the grip on my DM9 and to change the top plate/hopper lid for the Rotor. This is the most useful tool in my kit. If you have a Dye/Proto marker and want one - email me. Cost is about SGD10/USD7.8 each.

I'm also ordering a 3/16 screwdriver for adjusting the Chrono on Dye Hyper 3 Regs. To take off the whole Hyper 3 reg for servicing and cleaning you'd need a 5/16 hex key which is not available as a screwdriver.

MPOC1 2011

Our first MPOC1 tournament of the year was last weekend we bought along a newly formed Div 3 team with us in RED SEVENS 2. Our fresh crop of young players Carl, Tom, Mark, Lester, Jeremy, Jason and Sofie in our new Div3 team who played in their first MPOC and did very well to make it all the way to the finals on their very first MPOC.

We're extremely proud that the new guys have done so well to finish in second place on their first MPOC. Some of the guys on the team played at the World Cup Asia last November so MPOC1 was their second tournament together.

As for the D2 team- we did well to win all 6 of our preliminary games. With the increased number of teams in Div 2 this year we had to play 6 matches 4 of Sat and 2 on Sunday. Followed by Quarter finals and then Semi Finals and Finals. We had Azlan back in the team after a year out and Kiko came along to boost the forward line. I captained the Red Sevens again and went to the weekend hoping for the best and we did well to finish with a Third Placing losing only one match which was in the Semi finals to eventual winners CMX Republic.

VENUE
The venue was at Putra University which was way out of KL but the MPOC got us cheap rooms at the Palace of the Golden Horses same hotel for WCA in 09.

FIELD
The field was rather good the MPOC gave us two table and a lot of chairs. So that I have to thank and say that it was really appreciated. Comfort level was high as the tents were under trees and despite raining on Sat night the field and pit areas were not muddy.

I do have to say that I have been noticing the cuts and holes in the air arenas which thus lead to a couple of delays then the arenas collapsed and needed to be refilled. This was why the Millenium Series stopped using the arenas and went back to the old styled pole and nets. I must say that I do prefer the poles and nets as the this arena frames make it hard for coaches and spotters to see. Furthermore the noise from paint hitting the sides also doesnt help the coaches to get their instructions into the field. So I'm not a big fan of the air arenas for playing xball/M7 format.

The weekend went by smoothly without major dramas. It felt like a short and sweet weekend rather than sitting around waiting for the 10 prelims and finals in hot Pattaya. Again the extra tables, chairs and tents made everyone feel comfortable and not having to squeeze with other teams. The weather was good paintball weather with the sun behind the clouds but no rain. I hope we get the same number of tables and chairs and one team per tent at the next MPOC.

SEBURO EDITION DYE NT

I was looking around to see if anyone had annoed or photoshopped green DYE NTs into green and voila! This is the best picture I have come across so far on the net.

I've been bugging Dye to specially make 20 of these in polished green. I even spoke to Dave personally about it lol. I should get in touch with Billy Wing and bug him but these days they are all made in Taiwan.

I guarantee that the other 19 'Green Lanterns' will be sold out in no time. Dye specially made 1 Gloss Red NT for a friend of mine and it gathered enough interest to make a very limited number of 15 of the Gloss Red ones. They wre sold out quickly, people kept asking for the 'Superman' NT that they re made a second batch of the Polished red ones. One of my team mates has 2.

This is close to the lime edition that Dye has but I like the green being this much more intense.

Found this on speedball world, its a custom anno job and it looks great.

Yesterday I was looking for a map or guide to the SPS Venue which is at Angsana Park at East Coast Parkway. I googled "SPS Angsana Park" and my blog was on top of he search list. So I might as well post a quick guide here.

Angsana Park is next to Carpark E2 on the bottom right of the map. It is just across the ECP highway from Bayshore Park Condominiums. On the map its where the EXIT 7A sign is.

If you're driving its straight down Bedok South Avenue 1 or if you're driving on the East Coast Parkway its EXIT 7A if you are coming from Changi. From the city lookout for EXIT 7B

For those taking public transport- there is only one bus going there which is 401 from Bedok MRT Station. The bus stop B93159 is near to the East Coast Lagoon which is a bit of a walk to the field.

We get visitors from all over the World who come and play and hang out with us at Red Dynasty. We've had some pretty good snake players who have dropped by and played with is and showed us some tips. Daniel Ong and Xkay Ong from XFox and recently Mark Ng who is a Singaporean studying in Melbourne and playing in the MXL Melbourne Xball League and PAVS - Paintball Association of Victoria. In Melbourne they play race to 7 points in 15 mins. Mark recently hooked up with Melbourne team House of Cards.

When I get asked "Why do I play paintball?" my answer would be "because I get to meet and make friends with other paintballers". Mark Ng is one of those really nice easy going paintballer that my team mates and I are most fortunate to make friends with. He is a snake player who plays in D1 in Melbourne Australia and I dare say very skilled and dedicated to the sport.

Mark told me he runs at night after midnight when its really cold during winter to acclimatise his body to playing in cold conditions. Over there it gets really cold playing in the mud in the snake and his legs and body can cramp up while being in the snake for too long. He runs 5km and 10km on alternate nights because in Melbourne Div1 play a race to 7 in 30 mins! Thats dedication.

Tips and Tricks for SPS

I came up with an idea of each of us RED SEVENS presenting a paintball tip on video for those who are new to paintball who are going to play in SPS or in general. It's also to help generate some publicity for SPS.

My tip is to clean your barrels before every game and to carry a swab into the game so you can clean and clear ball breaks or dirt from the barrel when the shots start to stray.

Ivan's tip is the 3 point crawl in the snake- he shows how to do the 3 point crawl in the snake to get up as fast and low as possible

Ben show's how to break out with a mechanical marker with a gravity hopper - how its important to keep the marker level rather than bringing the market up from below the waistline.

Jane shows how to keep you marker up by resting it on the bunker while reloading.

Bengiun from Contract Killers tip is for the back corner player to wrap out and shoot at their center back.

PRINCE's SHOUT OUT TO SPS

I was chatting with Prince last week and thought of asking him to do a shoutout to the Paintballers in Singapore and wish them Good Luck for SPS. He said alright "I do it right now" and he went off and did a short video shoutout and sent it to me within 10 mins of my asking.

PATHETIC FOOD AT YOUTH OLYMPICS

Youth Olympics packed lunch - rice with bits of corn 6 long beans and a deep fried piece of "chicken"

I read with much bemusement in the Straits Times today about the pathetic pack lunch they gave to volunteers at the Youth Olympics. This reminded me of how good our lunches were at the World Games last year in Kaohsiung Taiwan. Everyday including Friday practice and Captains Briefing, we were asked for our food preference and given a packed lunch which was not only generous but actually really delicious.

We'd get Japanese rice, a big piece of breaded pork chop AND a piece of braised chicken chop which were well cooked and not cheaply deep fried. The accompanied rice noodles and 2 types of vegetables or tofu were also delicious and not just something thrown in. There is also a sweet bun in the packed meal.And after lunch they gave everyone a Taiwanese version of Yakult to help with digestion.

I must say that this was also the same food we got when we made our first trip to Taiwan to play in the Taiwan International Paintball Tournament a year earlier.

I'm saying that they really take good care of you when you go up to Taiwan to play paintball. Shame on you Singapore Food industries for providing a pathetic packed lunch for a "World Crass" event such as the YOG.

PALS Singapore?

Imagine playing at night with the city lights in the background. The media will gobble it up.

With the growth of the PALS league and talk about bringing the show to Singapore. I'd like to throw my thoughts into it. I've always had this vision of playing a Paintball tournament on the "The Float" which at Marina bay which is the world's largest floating pontoon at 120m long and 83m wide. The size of the pitch will be more than enough to accommodate two paintball fields and the stands can sit up to 30,000 people.

The Float or otherwise know as the Marina Bay Floating Platform was designed to serve as a venue for Singapore's National Day parades and it has hosted concerts, football matches and the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix runs through it - in and out under the stands.

And with the football pitch is artificial turf....YES TURF- there is turf on the field.

This would certainly rival the cool factor of playing on the beach at Huntington or Malaga. The cool factor of playing on water on the bay would definitely be sky nigh - the views would also be spectacular. There are stadium lights in place which will be awesome if games were played at night with views of the city sky line in the background.

Hotels shopping centers and food outlets surround the Marina Bay Area - the Sands Casino Resort is just across the bay. Busses and Train run centrally to this area.

It would be the perfect and "The Coolest Paintball Tournament on Earth"

Why Singapore? Because its easy to get there- flights form every major city in Asia. Easy public transportation. Take a cab or the train or even walk from your hotel to the field.

Most importantly the media is centered in Singapore. ESPN STAR is based in Singapore. If we had an even like this they will surely come out and cover this.

PAINTBALL GOES TO CHINA WITH PALS

The breaking news from yesterday was a huge one for Paintball and Paintball in Asia.
This is the press release on PbNation announcing that there will be a PALS - Paintball League Asia Series leg in China next March.

This is huge for Paintball because as everyone knows- China is a huge potential market of 1.3 billion people. If and when the Chinese do pick up paintball, the sport will grow tremendously and paintball manufacturers will go 'ka-ching-ching'.

It is also a great thing for Paintball in Asia with the PALS - Paintball Asia League Series being the first Paintball league to organise a tournament in China. The prestige of the PALS league will be higher than ever and will thus surely now be the attention of the other major Paintball leagues in the world.

PALS China was in the making since the beginning of the year. Australian Michael Whybrew spoke about it to us at the Sultan of Kedah Cup in May and finally it is a reality. My congratulations to the two Micheals Whybrew and Tan for making PALS China a reality.

The China Cup is set for the 24th - 27th March 2011.

NOOB WARS FIELD

At Noob Wars yesterday - I noticed a lot of teams filling up the back 3 bunkers (YELLOW). I would have pushed for the Dorito - Carwash - Right Brick and Snake Bunkers (Red). If we dont go into the snake straight we'd stop at the Back Right or the Right Brick.

I wouldn't bother with the Back Left Can- its too far back to be efffective. If there was someone in there he should look cross into the snake. Tape side is a waste of time. Normally teams would have a snake corner to cover the snake but again a lot of them were either crossing in or simply not helping their snakes enough- its far back to be effective. Much easier to shoot somebody in the snake from the Carwash.

Carwash is an easy fill straight from the break- just run low and slide into it. He should play right and look to lock their snake out. Put a lane in front of snake 1 and should have the advantage to stand up and shoot down into the snake. Car wash also protects his snake guy from any bunkering move.

Snake - should go straight into snake 2 as soon as possible - shoot out their car wash and doritos and bricks. The snake can stand up on the cans and look to wrap out to shoot the bricks and push their back left to the outside.

Right Brick is to help keep their right back from shooting on the inside and to protect his snake guy.

I would put somebody into the Dorito every game looking to wrap on the outside - first to kill their Dorito and wrap out on their brick and cake and Back right. He should try to push into the 50 Can and should be relatively well protected from their Left back.

Teams that got to the 50s first tend to have better advantage. The more guys you have in the 50s meant more firepower nearer to them and better chances of shooting them out.

Teams that shot out the opposite snake also stood a better chance to move into the 50 zone. There were a few gun fights in the snake - which I felt was a waste because in the snake your job is to move up and shoot across the field- not hunt for the other snake guy. We had one snake player going the highway twice to bunker his opposite snake but he got shot by the back left in the process.

I didn't see the need to fill both bricks- if you can get up there- might as well fill the car wash. If the Dorito guy can hold off or shoot out his opposite dorito- the D side will be locked down. If you had a guy in the car wash you'd pretty much stop them from moving up until they get you out of there.

I felt that teams should have worked on the break outs running forward gunning the snake side for the snake rather than take the corners.

The Singapore Paintball Series (SPS) will be held on 16 & 17 October 2010 in East Coast Park (Angsana Field, next to carpark E2). From the same organizers who brought you the Singapore Paintball Novice Series (SPNS) in 2008 and 2009, this year's tournament will feature a 2 day event for participants with up to 4 different participating divisions. New to the tournament scene will be the Corporate and Tertiary Division which is targeted to introduce the sport of paintball to corporate companies and schools as an excellent form of team building activity. "After taking a break from organizing paintball tournament in Singapore, the committee felt that it is time to introduce a new wave of Singapore paintball to the general public. Our focus for the SPS will be creating paintball awareness to the masses and to create an opportunity for people to try out paintball games in the park", exclaimed Jane Koh who is the SPS Tournament Director and the former President of the Paintball Association (Singapore). With the introduction of the Open Division which involved the use of electronic markers, the committee hopes to bring about a completely new tournament scene to the paintball community to Singapore. My Take on the Millenium Series Asia

My take on this is some people trying to get a bigger piece of the pie by trying to create another pie. This of course did not go down well with the owners of the first pie as it threatens its existence and everything they have worked hard to build.

Now, my take on this is more of a question. Instead of creating an Asian Series with the Millenium Series- WHY try to recreate another series with the Millennium Series?

There are other leagues like the PSP which has a similar 'race to' format to the Millennium's M7 format. If they wanted to go with the straight up 7 or 5 man semi auto format - they could have approached the NPPL. One of the supporters of the consortium runs a series which is closely modeled on the NPPL with the type of bunkers and referring style.

Personally I don't think the pie in Asia is big enough for two series especially if its going to be a similar 'race to' format. If anything a second series should offer something entirely different from the 'race to' format. If you look at America the two biggest paintball series are different formats. They reluctantly compliment each other and have found common ground to work together somewhat. They both need each other because having two is better than having one. It simply gives teams, sponsors and the sport more mileage.

We all know that the two parties will not work with each other its just not going to happen. Ok that's fine - lets move on. Instead of destroying something to recreate the same thing - why not CREATE something new.

The PALS Organisation is safe - for now. However I think they should not rest on their laurels and instead build upon the recent "endorsement" from the Millennium Board. I'd like to see the PALS Series make an important come back to Taiwan and open new avenues in countries like Indonesia up north to Japan Korea and even Singapore. The middle east have their own PALM Series now, however if PALS gets into more countries then its prestige would draw the teams from the Middle east back to the PALS Series.

The Asian Golf Tour have successful collaborations with the European Golf Tour in by having some of the Golf tournaments in Asia co-endorsed by the European PGA thus drawing European Pros to come out to Asia to play. We could have collaborations between the PALS/PALM/Millennium Series and draw more teams to play in each others league.

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE MILLENNIUM SERIES
Please read and I'll interpret for you below.

The Millennium Series is dedicated to the growth and promotion of the sport of paintball since 1999. Since that time the Millennium Series (www.millennium-series.com) runs the biggest tournaments in Europe and offers a platform for competition to the best teams of the world.

Apart from running our own series, we support other tournaments, series and leagues, in Europe and worldwide on a global scale by various means. This includes, but is not limited to providing knowledge, equipment and various other assets.

In the Far East, the Millennium Series has been endorsing the PALS tournaments, which use our rules. The PALS (www.palseries.org) has grown over the years amazingly fast, featuring their flagship event, the World Cup Asia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and having successfully hosted events in other countries, like Thailand, Taiwan and Philippines.

In the last months the Millennium Series has been approached by a consortium of individuals and companies, who want to develop paintball in Asia as well. During our recent London event the Board of the Millennium Series invited all parties involved to several rounds of meetings to learn more about their exact intentions and to explain our own vision for the development of the sport in Asia. What was clear was there was a lot common themes and aspirations by all and we sincerely hope that all concerned will see the benefits of collaboration rather than competition which will only help to slow down the growth of the sport in the region

Basically the Millennium Series is asking all parties involved to find a way together towards our common goals. In a time, where support from within the paintball industry is getting less and less, it does not make sense to build parallel structures and organisations, which would lead to divide and fighting each other. Instead, existing structures should be used to accommodate the ambitions and totally justified strategic interests of other individuals, which have already shown commitment and constructive passion for the game, both in Malaysia and in other Asian countries.

If these parties manage to focus on common goals and strategies in a constructive manner, exciting times lay ahead for Asia, which is already the fastest growing region in paintball!

When I heard about the botched raid on the ship my Israeli commandos using "paintball guns" that caught my attention. Apart from the infamous video of the commandos getting whacked by 20-30 guys with iron pipes.

Propaintball.com picked up on an article on Popular Mechanics website on Israel's "Less Lethal" arsenal. At the top of the list is the ubiquitous "paintball gun"

When Israeli commandos launched their assault on ships bound for Gaza on Monday, the plan was to take them without bloodshed. It was a tall order, but after decades of conflict the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has built up a comprehensive arsenal of "less lethal" weapons, many of them developed indigenously. These cover everything from controlling large crowds to subduing individuals. However, technology has so far failed to deliver a Star Trek–styled phaser that is both completely harmless and perfectly effective. Each type of weapon has its own strengths and weaknesses. And as the botched raid shows, smart tactical use of such weapons is essential or everything can go tragically wrong.

Paintball Guns
The commandos of Flotilla 13, Israel's equivalent of the SEALs, were armed with paintball guns. This was an unusual use for paintballing gear, but not unique. For crowd control, paintballs are usually replaced with solid rubber slugs or rounds that break apart and release a cloud of pepper dust. Standard paintball guns do not produce enough impact force to deter a motivated opponent; the U.S. military prefers the FN303 launcher, which has twice the muzzle energy. In this case, the paintballs do not seem to have been effective.

Master Fonjen's tuning involves finely balancing the throughput and efficiency of the air flow through the Hyper 3 regulator into the marker. The result is a more smoother consistent shot that is more efficient and maximsies each puff of air into the shot thus saving air during the game.

Every one of our new markers have been sent to Fonjen to be tuned and each one comes to us ready to shoot straight out of the box. We take our dye markers into the field with confidence and pride that they have been tuned by Fonjen.

Angel has released the now famous Fly mask in 2 basic colours of black and white. The big external lens certainly makes the mask look more like a pair of fashionesque sunglasses rather than a practical piece of paintball safety equipment.

Dye have released the DM10 in 2 new colours and the NT in Team Editions.

The DM10 comes in Aloha which is a break away from the agg feel and going with a hot Hawaiian summer look with the sunset and coconut trees. I wonder how many of these will sell.

The Bomber has shark teeth is reminiscent of Johnny Pechak's (?) WWII P40 Mustang fighter plane influenced DM8

Fadzly in red is a Singapore Poly student and a staff at Red Dynasty and Aaron is in black next to him, both are students who are helping to set up an paintball CCA at Singapore Poly

Some of the RED SEVENS and staff of Red Dynasty were at Singapore Poly during last week promoting paintball as a sport. After gathering 120 names of people interested in playing paintball as a sport, 45 guys and a girl rocked up today at Red Dynasty Paintball Arena.

The purpose of this exercise was to help promote paintball at Singapore Poly and to help them set up an CCA Co-Curricular Activity club which hopefully will be recognised and gather funding from the School. This has the promise to what we hope to be the first tertiary institution in Singapore to have a Paintball Club and Paintball team.

We put the participants through some running and ability drills and split the groups into teams. There was some team building and social games to get everyone to get to know each other.

I am quite excited at the possiblity of Singapore Poly being the first school in Singapore to have a paintball CCA and paintball team and the turn out today and enthusiasm from the participants has been great.

I hope to see interest from the other polytechnics and universities in Singapore to set up teams so we can have a inter tertiary competition going between all the colleges and universities in Singapore.

Thank you to the crew at Red Dynasty Ben Jane Fuzz Kenny and Red Sevens Paul for helping out at the event today and everyone from Singapore Poly who turned up.

Previous editions of Syndicate's jerseys have had shade of gray, however the 2010 edition is a break from the grays and more red thrown into it.

The LOVE and HATE is still on the shoulders with a new aggressive "S" shield logo on the chest and a new "Syndicate" logo as well.

SEED AT MPOC 2

RED SEVENS were on hand at MPOC 2 installing SEED RtR Upgrades - in these pictures Jane and Paul were installing the SEED into team Xtioneer Allan Phang's Rotor.

Paul is replacing the motor with 1 of 2 optional new SEED motors that comes in the SEED kit. The Green motor is for more Speed and the Red motor is for more torque.

What you will also get is a new smart board that will detect a mis feed or ball jam within milliseconds and work to clear it without you even knowing. You will never realise if there is a misfeed or a jam as the SEED will clear it as you play. Opening up the Rotor during a game to clear a jam will be a thing of the past with the SEED planted in you Rotor.

You will also get nifly new gear that will save battery power and enable the SEED motor to reverse and free ball jams.

Jane is almost done with the installation which takes less than 15 minutes. You can see the green motor which is the speed motor has been installed. And other motor which is the torque option is red colour in the box.

RED DYNASTY BASIC PAINTNBALL COURSE

Last Sunday the RED SEVENS had a big turnout for the Basic Paintball Course. Over 25 guys and girls and even the Black Aces came along to Red Dynasty Paintball Arena. The turnout was bigger than we expected and we had to split everyone into 3 groups for the course. The Red Sevens were there running the new players through things like how to stand and play the bunkers, running and shooting to sliding and diving.

I must say that it was good to see the Black Aces come out and support the event. And they also played in the skirmish games after the course. This is really good as it shows that they are really commited to learning the sport.

We hope this course will encourage more people of all walks to come out and try and get into paintball. The youngest player that came alone was John at the "legal" age of 14*. We also have a good response from the ladies who also came out.

The Basic Paintball Course is free - and each participant will receive a certificate of participation which is issued at Paintballers World pro shop at Beach Road in Singapore.

RED SEVENS UP TO 2nd IN MPOC RANKINGS

The Division 2 Rankings for the MPOC after Leg 2 are up and the RED SEVENS have moved up 3 places from 5th in the first leg to 2nd after our win in the second leg.

We won a total of 6 out of 7 matches in Leg 2 thus our leg 2 total was 6 points. Because there were less teams participating in the second leg, we had only 5 preliminary games of which we won 4. The other 2 points were collected from winning the semi final and the final matches.

Eastsiderz stay on top by just a point with 13 points. They scored an impressive of 10 points from the first leg and add 3 points from the second leg to make it 13 points. We collected 6 points from the first leg and 6 from the second one to make it 12 points in total - a single point from the top spot.

SUSPENSIONS FOR MPOC
On a slightly darker note the MPOC has sent me the announcements to suspensions from Leg 2:-

SUSPENSION OF PLAYERS AFTER THE 2ND LEG OF MPOC 2010
As a result of the MPOC Board Meeting on the 22nd April 2010 at 1.00 pm, the board has agreed with immediate effect, that the listed players below will be suspended for the 3rd leg of the MPOC 2010.

During the meeting attended by Mr Paul Lam, YM Raja Khairul, Mr Patrick Tan, Mr. Nicholas Wong, Mr Junaidi Kalil and Mr Allan Phang, the board strongly advised players and teams to refrain from harassing and abusing the referees and tournament officials. Future MPOC tournaments will impose severe suspension on players who are found guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct or who bring the game into disrepute during the tournament.

MALAGA MESS

I have been trying to find out what happened over last weekend in Europe over at the Millennium Series opener in Malaga. As you would probably know that most of the teams couldn't get to Malaga in Spain as all flight across Europe were canceled due to the Volcanic ash form Greenland. London Nexus was stuck in Heathrow and Dean Apcar of London Shock told me that they went from Luton Airport to Standstead Airport because the former was closed. They were hoping to catch another flight from Standstead but after chartering 2 buses to get there- they were disappointed too have that flight canceled too.

On top of that, those teams that were lucky to get to Malaga before the flight bans were hit with thunder storms like last year. So even if you did somehow manage to get to the event - the weather would still whack you. It was a double whammy and and I can say that Malaga is indeed a jinxed event for the Millennium Series.

As things are still up in the air- the organisers are working of coming up with a solution because some games went on at Malaga and most were just canceled due to absent teams and bad weather.

Just to update you on the situation regarding the remaining games from Malaga and a series point solution for the teams affected by the Volcano;

We have been looking at several options in order to be as fair as possible to everybody. We have worked on several schedule ideas and are having many in depth discussions in order to achieve the best possible result.

By tomorrow afternoon we should be in a position to finalise and announce everything.

At the same time we are also analysing all the extraordinary events that affected last weekend in order to learn and improve our systems wherever possible.

BIRTH OF A STORM EPISODE 2: The First Practice

Jeff Stein sent me a preview of Episode 2 of New England Hurricane's highly successful and popular documentary on the rebuilding process of the team. The first episode was a huge success as it was watched by almost 25,000 viewers gathering a huge following across the paintball world.

Thus Episode 2: The First Practice has been highly anticipated by Hurricanes and paintball fans across the world. In Episode 2 the new guys who were picked up in the selection process from the first episode went up against local teams from New England.

We get to watch the process of getting together for practice and the teams grinding it out over 3 matches. In the first Match the Hurricanes’ new team took it to the locals but in the second match the locals stepped up and beat the over confidant Hurricanes who were getting cocky and sloppy because they won match 1 with relative ease. Watch what happens in the final round after the teams regrouped and Jeff Stein has a word with the team.

The 10 minute long Birth of a Storm Episode 2 is scheduled for official release on the 25th of April. 25 fans from the Hurricanes Facebook have been given the opportunity to watch it on 3 days ago on the 20th.
